Bear Ridge Trailhead celebration set for Sept. 3
El Paso will celebrate the completion of Bear Ridge Trailhead improvements with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and free evening hike on Sept. 3.

El Paso residents are invited to celebrate the completion of improvements at the Bear Ridge Trailhead with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and free evening hike on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026.

The event begins at 6 p.m. at the trailhead near Franklin Hills Street and Bear Ridge Drive in West El Paso.

The improved trailhead offers a new entryway for hikers, cyclists and other outdoor enthusiasts exploring the Bear Ridge Trail. Improvements include parking, pedestrian walkways, ADA-compliant ramps and handrails, a water fountain for visitors and pets, a bicycle repair station and an information kiosk.

The project also includes rock-mulch landscaping, irrigation, newly planted caliper trees and a shaded picnic area with a table, benches and a waste bin.

The approximately $500,000 project was funded through the voter-approved 2012 Quality of Life Bond.
