El Paso High School freshman Mia Navarro is proving that passion and perseverance can take you anywhere—from the classroom to the runway at New York Fashion Week. The 15-year-old, who was recently crowned Teen Miss Texas Earth, is making waves both as a model and as a dedicated student at the historic “Lady on the Hill.”
Navarro began competing in pageants just a year ago, entering her first local event to explore modeling. That experience quickly evolved into opportunities at the state level and, eventually, national recognition. As Teen Miss Texas Earth, Mia advocates for environmental awareness, focusing her platform on air pollution and its impact on communities.
“Being in pageants has helped me share my voice while also building confidence.” Navarro said.
Her growing career has already led her to walk in two New York Fashion Week shows, where she modeled designer looks by Mara Jai. She even appeared on a Times Square billboard—a surreal moment that inspired her dream to one day move to New York to pursue modeling and fashion journalism.
Despite her success, Mia remains grounded and thankful for her teachers, coaches, and friends at El Paso High. She credits her late father and her grandmother for inspiring her to stay focused on her goals and value education.
“It’s such an honor to represent El Paso,” she said. “I want to continue working hard so that I can inspire others and give back in the future.”
