El Paso Community College’s Government Discipline hosted a 2026 City of El Paso election candidate forum on Saturday, October 10, at the EPCC Administrative Services Center.
The forum brought candidates and community members together to discuss key community issues. Approximately 170 people attended the event in the ASC Boardroom, while another 50 followed the livestream on the Government Discipline’s Instagram account.
The candidate forum is part of the Government Discipline’s ongoing effort to promote student dialogue, encourage voter participation and strengthen the community’s commitment to democracy.
The discipline also organized a district-wide voter registration drive on September 16. The drive registered 260 students to vote with support from the League of Women Voters of El Paso, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the El Paso County Elections Department, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, EPCC’s Office of Student Success, and student clubs Texas Rising and Student Government.
EPCC also recognized Susana Rodarte, dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at the EPCC Valle Verde campus, for her support.
“The strong turnout and active participation in both events demonstrate the community’s interest in civic engagement and informed decision-making,” Government Professor Teresa Nevarez said.
