Shelter Helpers Workshop Teaches Kids How to Support Local Pets in Need

Young animal lovers in El Paso have an exciting opportunity to learn how they can make a real difference in the lives of shelter pets. The Shelter Helpers Workshop, hosted by El Paso Animal Services, will take place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 5001 Fred Wilson. The event is open to children ages 5 and up, with families encouraged to participate.

This hands-on, interactive workshop introduces kids to the world of animal shelters and teaches them the many ways they can help pets in their community. Participants will explore what shelters do, how staff care for animals in need, and the importance of responsible pet ownership.

Throughout the workshop, children will learn simple but impactful ways to support shelter pets — from kindness projects to creative enrichment activities. They’ll also discover how to read animal body language and interact safely with pets, helping build confidence and compassion.

The event emphasizes teamwork, empathy, and community responsibility, showing kids that anyone — regardless of age — can be a hero to animals. Activities are designed to be both educational and fun, empowering young attendees to make a meaningful impact.
